Band Story

The story of Miscariage begins – as so often – not with a grand plan, but with a simple encounter.

In the early 90s, around 1992, Res (drums) and Oschti (guitar) met. Res came from a death metal band, while Oschti wasn’t in any band at the time – but the idea came quickly: Why not start a band ourselves?

Thought and done – but far from complete. What was missing? A singer, a bassist… and actually someone who even knew how to play bass.

This is where Adi came in. With no real experience but a lot of motivation, he took over the bass – with some basic help from Oschti.

The singer? Paulo. How exactly he joined the band can’t be fully reconstructed today – but as with many good stories, chance played its part.

🍔 The first “experiences”

An early gig took the band to a burger restaurant in Winterthur that supported upcoming bands. The result: after just a few minutes, the place was empty.

The audience made a quick escape – except for one person: Stefan Fehr, the band’s most loyal fan. He supported the band at rehearsals and shows alike and remained closely connected. Sadly, he is no longer with us today, but he will always be part of this story.

The band took moments like these with humor. Setbacks are part of the journey.

🏚️ The legendary rehearsal room

The first rehearsal room was located beneath a small sports shop in Kreuzlingen – cold, damp, and anything but comfortable. And yet, this is where it all began.

🔥 First songs and live shows

Inspired by bands like Rage Against the Machine and Clawfinger, the band quickly developed its own sound. Within just a few weeks, the first concert followed – with a fully packed venue.

More gigs followed, first locally and later also across nearby borders.

💿 The first (and only) CD

Despite the high costs, the band managed to raise around 10,000 Swiss francs. In just five days, their first and only CD was recorded in Schaffhausen.

⚡ Break

Changes in the lineup and Oschti’s move to the renowned GIT in the USA eventually led to the band’s breakup after about two years.

What followed was a break of nearly 30 years.

⏳ The years in between

The band members went their separate ways – professionally and personally. Music never completely disappeared, but it moved into the background for a while.

🎂 Comeback

For Paulo’s 50th birthday, the former members were brought back together. After just a few rehearsals, a spontaneous performance followed – not perfect, but real.

🔄 Back to music

The band started rehearsing again more or less regularly. The old material is back under control – and at the same time, new songs are being developed.

Miscariage now stands for experience, energy, and the determination to write a new chapter.
